Unfortunately, no. The Australian government won’t yet subsidise sessions with counsellors and psychotherapists as we aren’t registered clinicians through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (think doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, dieticians etc).
As a growing collective though, we are working hard to have our equally rigorous qualifications and standards recognised, which may result in some changes soon.
However, until that time we cannot accept mental health care plans. That being said, our fees are typically cheaper than a subsidised psychologist or psychiatrist anyway and often have availability much sooner too! So you may be better off financially working with a private pay counsellor, at least until you can get yourself into a psychologist or psychiatrist who can accept your plan.

Strong Space usually recommends their counsellors to maintain no more than a 9am - 7pm weekday schedule where possible, however different practitioners will have different availability and lifestyles to account for. So it’s best to check each individual counsellors profile here first to be sure.
We are not currently servicing weekend clients. For specific requests, please email your counsellor.

Yes! This is one of the most effective and yet underrated ways to engage in the counselling. Phone counselling allows you to get the support you need in the quick, efficient and flexible way a lot of men are looking for. No need for laptops or computers to set up. Just wait for the call and you’re good to go. Find out more about our phone counselling service here!

This is different for everyone however in our experience we typically recommend the following:
Your first three sessions are ideally completed weekly to fast track the rapport building stage - allowing you and your therapist to get to know each other and start building trust.
The first session works best if it is extended to 75-90 minutes in order to complete the intake paperwork and gather all relevant information.
After the intial three sessions, you can continue weekly if you feel it’s helpful, or you can move to fortnightly or monthly sessions from there.
Matt does accept ad-hoc one off sessions for existing, long term clients for the purposes of ongoing mental health management and support.
-
Scheduled appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance otherwise the full session fee will be charged.
Appointments cancelled prior to 24 hours can be used as credit for a future appointment or will be refunded.
