Matthew Musgrave
Graduate Diploma of Counselling Psychology
Hey there, I'm Matt Musgrave (he/him pronouns), a millennial father, husband and specialist men's mental health counsellor.
💪You are not alone!
My personal journey has been marked by resilience and self-discovery.
I've personally faced postnatal depression, social anxiety, adult-diagnosed ADHD, binge eating disorder, and intense rejection sensitivity dysphoria, most of which I still struggle with to this day.
These experiences have shaped my path towards becoming a counsellor, and I'm deeply committed to supporting others on their journey to healing.
My passion lies in helping millennial men navigate the complex terrain of emotional dysregulation, trauma recovery, relational challenges, and issues surrounding addiction.
I also have a special affinity for fathers who are adapting to new roles and responsibilities, a journey I understand intimately.
Together, we explore emotional self-awareness, behavioral self-regulation and self-care, as well as the cultivation of confident and courageous internal leadership.
My work centers on empowering men to build a stronger relationship with themselves, fostering self-compassion during times of struggle, and creating clarity in their lives.
More About Matt…
On a personal note, my own journey of self-discovery has led me to reconnect with interests I had set aside in an attempt to fit in with the people around me.
In recent years, I've rediscovered my love for playing basketball, cycling, enjoying anime and cartoons, and indulging in my passion for cinema (from superhero movies to nature documentaries all the way to chick flicks and existential/philosophical films that make you uncomfortable).
I'm also nurturing my artistic side by spending more time drawing and also hope to one day return to playing the cello (something I did for 6 years in high school).
I've walked a path that many can relate to.
Whilst we don't all share the same details of our stories, it's likely that our varied experiences have a lot of overlap when it comes to the rules of relationships that we have learned to abide by as men.
I've personally experienced (and continue to work on) the transformation from a highly protected state to a more authentic, curious, grounded and compassionate sense of self.

In my counselling practice, I prioritise creating a safe and collaborative space where you can openly share your complex experiences at your own pace.
Transparency is key, and I continuously check in to ensure your needs and goals are being met.
I'm open to receiving feedback (I actively encourage it, in fact!) and understand that therapy should be tailored to what you truly need, which often involves reconnecting with your body and your mind through the foundational development of reflective practices, somatic awareness and the cultivation of self-compassion.
If you're seeking a counsellor who understands the journey of self-discovery, resilience, and personal growth, I'm here to support you.
Feel free to reach out, and together, we'll embark on a transformative journey toward becoming the best version of yourself.
Cheers,
Matt
