Will Salter
💪You're in good company!
My personal journey has been marked by significant challenges including issues of low self-esteem, family mental health, and complex father-son dynamics.

These experiences have shaped my understanding of mental health and masculinity, and fuel my commitment to supporting others.
Understanding Men, Building Strength
Having worked in a wide variety of jobs and roles throughout my life, I can relate to different walks of life. I've experienced the duality of working full-time and being a stay-at-home dad, facing loneliness and self-doubt.
These personal challenges have deeply informed my empathy and understanding of what it means to be a man in today’s society.
As a group facilitator with the Melbourne Men's Group, I strive to help men navigate their paths with resilience and self-compassion.
I have a special interest in men’s health and wellbeing. Having lived through a time when men were not encouraged to develop emotional intelligence, I now understand its crucial role in living a full and connected life.
My aim is to support men during their most vulnerable times, providing a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space tailored to their specific needs.
More About Will
Self-care is a vital part of my life, and I regularly engage in activities that nourish my well-being.
Surfing, bushwalking, camping, yoga, meditation, and cold water therapy are some of the practices I prioritise.
I also place a high value on maintaining strong personal relationships, understanding that these connections are essential to overall mental health.
I continue to engage in ongoing therapy, self-development workshops, and retreats, ensuring that my skills and knowledge remain relevant and impactful.
Personally, I find immense joy in nature, travel, gardening, and photography.
Reconnecting with surfing in my late 20s was transformative, offering me freedom, exhilaration, and stillness all at once.
Here to Help, Every Step of the Way
Fostering a positive counsellor-client relationship is the cornerstone of my practice.
I believe that this relationship is invaluable for effective growth and healing.
Clients seek a human connection where they can feel comfortable and understood.
I see myself as a guide, helping clients navigate their journey by providing the directions they need while recognising that they are the experts in their own lives.

In my counselling sessions, I facilitate self-discovery and healing by providing opportunities for clients to gain a better understanding of who they are and where they want to be.
Every man is given the space, trust, and support to find his unique path in a non-judgmental way.
I believe in meeting clients where they are and the power of presence and empathic listening.
Confidentiality is key to creating a safe environment where clients feel empowered to use their time for their own benefit, knowing that healthy boundaries are maintained.

Ultimately, I am more interested in who you are as a person, not just what you do.
